Raising them up in the way they should go...

Hello!

It has been a minute. I've been busy with four amazing children. (not bias at all)

I thought that I'd share our heart and focus as we raise our children in the Truth of God's Word. Also, how they have responded, and the impact our church body has in their lives. I think I can keep it short, let's just see shall we?

So, recently, my husband was asked his opinion about a think tank group topic that was happening at another church. The gentleman asking was in the think tank group and the topic was how to reach this younger generation, including millenials and those who don't identify as christians. This gentleman also asked what we do in our home and how we will raise our children to know Christ and to become christians.

We discussed this and my husband also talked it over with our pastor, but ultimately it all boils down to the authority of the Word. We submit to God's Word as our final authority. What on earth does that mean. Well, that means we study it, and obey the doctrine (set of commands) given to us according to Christ's will through Paul, and we have learned that the whole bible is for us but not to us. It is all inspired by God and is literal. It doesn't need any interpreter because it defines itself. It is complete and there will no longer be anything added to it. Most importantly we believe it is the infalable Word of God. At least the Authorized King James version is. The other versions come from a completely different line and are changed over 10,000 times.

We raise our children to know the scripture. 2 Tim 3:15 says "And that from a child thou has known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" Over time they memorize several scriptures and they are present in our home too. We post them on the walls. They say certain ones during times of correction, so they understand what God's word says about how they should behave. (because we are training them up in the Word) Eventually, they realize they need Jesus and start to ask questions about being saved. They hear about it in daily Bible time with homeschooling all together. They hear about it at church in Bible lessons and people sharing from their journals each week. It's is eventually going to seep in that we are all fallen short of God and we need Jesus to go to Heaven. It's the first step not the final step in becoming a believer. When we feel it is time we will begin a week long (or however long it takes) bible question and answer sesh with said curious child. Because this is a HUGE decision folks and not to be taken lightly. We know from God's Word that a child is safe from hell before the age of accountability, but that age is different for different kids. (that just means in innocence.) When they are saved they then become responsible for their actions at the judgement seat. We want to make sure they know what it means and why they need to be saved etc.

Our children are watching us all the time. We cannot teach them that they need a relationship with the Lord with out his Word. John 1:1 Tells us that Jesus is the Word. We have the mind of Christ 1 Cor 2:16. We have to Love the Lord and know him, neither is possible with out his Word.

So, once they are saved we teach them how to daily focus on spiritual things instead of physical. How to put the Lord first above all things, and to do all things unto the Lord. We are chosen to be in this time, where we can be saved by his grace alone, but we are also called to HIS inheritance, and opportunity to reign with Christ. That second thing isn't a given. We have to walk worthy. Not only be saved but obey the doctrine that Christ gave to Paul for us. (Romans through Philemon)

Our church body is submitted to the KJV. Everyone. So we are like minded, because we submit to the Word. We don't allow temporal things to divide us and we love without fail. This is such an amazing growing place for us all. Not only are we fed every Sunday, and Wed with the truth, our children are too. Loved, prayed for and with, encouraged through the Word, memorizing the Word, and learning how the be a soldier every day to please the Lord. How to be able to mess up and get up and keep pressing toward the mark. Phil 3:14.

Please look up all scripture in the King James Version, I cannot guarantee the changing of the meaning of His word from any other version.

Did I miss anything? Do you want me to go into more detail about any part of this post? Feel free to comment. Hope your day is blessed! I know it will be if you are following the Lord!!
